Portrait & Pet Sessions - Information for Clients


What happens at the pre-shoot consultation?

Our pre-shoot consultations at the moment are either by phone or video call; we can do Zoom or Teams. The privilege of taking your picture is very special to us, so the consultation is an important first opportunity for us to meet. During the call, we can discuss your thoughts and requirements for the shoot, and what sort of pictures you would like to get out of the process. As we talk, we can suggest particular styles and ideas, and by the end of the consultation we will both have a clear idea of what we are aiming for. 

Where will my photo shoot take place?

All sessions are by appointment; we can cater for working hours, evenings and weekends by arrangement. We have a Studio at Sibford Gower, between Banbury and Chipping Norton, and we also have a number of lovely outdoor settings nearby. Alternatively, we can come to you; we have clients all over the UK, although if we have to travel over 50 miles we will have to allow for some travel costs in the fee.

How long will it take?

Our shoots usually last between one to two hours, depending on your requirements and the setting. We do find that most subjects start to fade within the hour and need a break. We always make our sessions relaxed and fun, with plenty of laughter! In most cases, we will aim to take perhaps 200 shots in the session. 

How should I prepare for the shoot?

Our professional cameras take very high-resolution images. Whilst we can do a lot in Photoshop, it is always better if you are looking your best, so do prepare and bring a hairbrush and any other make-up equipment you might want!

Your choice of clothing is important - its is best to avoid clothes with significant patterns, stripes or writing which in a photograph tend to distract and look messy. If you are in a couple or group, it can look better if everyone is wearing a similar shade, eg all light colours or all dark. Prior to taking any pictures, we will check you for stray hairs, fluff and missing buttons.

How should I prepare my pet for its shoot?

If you can, arrange for your pet to be groomed soon before the shoot. Ideally, some light exercise beforehand will help a dog be at its calmest, but we don't want it panting and needing to lie down! If we can, we prefer dog pictures with the collar off, but let us know your own preference. 

Can I bring extra people to the shoot?

You are welcome to bring friends or family with you, but we should agree who is being photographed at the pre-shoot consultation and we won't be able to photograph others without prior notice.  Our experience is that a shoot will go better with fewer people - less distractions!

How are you dealing with COVID-19 precautions?

We are adhering to all current  government guidelines in accordance with the MPA COVID-19 protocol which is available to view HERE.

How do we view our pictures after the shoot?

In the few days after the shoot, we will review the images and select the best ones for you. We will carry out some initial retouching and cropping ready for your viewing. We will place the images in a private area on our website and email you a link and password. You can then review your pictures at your leisure. We will arrange a telephone call (or Zoom!) to discuss your preferences and any further actions.

How can I choose extra products?

We will show you some of our product range at the shoot, and during our viewing call we can advise on further products which would complement your images. Our product range is also outlined on our website HERE. 

How long does it take for my bespoke products to arrive?

Please allow two to four weeks for your products to arrive, depending on type. 

How do I pay for the shoot and products?

We prefer online payment by card, which is usually more convenient for you and us. We will email you an invoice with an online link for card payment. We use fully secure systems. If you prefer, you can of course pay by bank transfer or cheque. 

Can I change my bespoke products?

Once we have confirmed your bespoke order, we cannot change or refund them except in the case of error or defects.  However we want you to be entirely happy with your products from us, so we will ensure that all details are checked and you have agreed all aspects of the order before we confirm.
